Interest in electric and hybrid vehicles is high in the United States. A recent survey has found that nearly 60% of people have considered buying either an EV or a hybrid, with close to 20% saying they are specifically interested in a fully electric vehicle. There are, of course, many benefits to owning an EV, including cost-savings and supporting the environment.
If you are interested in learning about the latest Chevrolet EV, this blog post is for you. Here, we will highlight everything you need to know about the American car maker’s focus on EVs, including specs, charging, trims, and more. Let’s get started.
1. Does Chevrolet Have Electric Cars?
Yes, it does. For its 2022 lineup, Chevrolet has included two fully-electric vehicles. These are the Bolt EV and the Bolt EUV.
In the coming years, there are also plans for Chevrolet to launch more EVs, including the Blazer, the Silverado, and the Equinox. Put simply, it’s an exciting time for fans of both Chevrolet and electric vehicles.
2. The Current Range is Impressive
The Bolt EV has been around since 2017 and has continued to be improved upon since then. It comes with a single electric motor and a 65kWh 350V lithium-ion battery.
This will get you 266 lb-ft of torque and 200 horsepower. It has a driving range of an impressive 259 miles, with a charging time of 7 hours at 220V.
The Bolt EUV, meanwhile, is the all-new compact SUV. Those looking for more space than the Bolt EV should find this model a perfect option. It features a 200-hp electric motor with a 65.0-kWh battery pack.
The Bolt EUV has a driving range of 247 miles and a charging time of 7 hours at 220V.
3. There Are Different Trims to Choose From
On the Bolt EV, there are 2 different trims to choose from: the EV 1LT and the EV 2LT. The latter is more expensive, though it does come with a number of worthwhile upgrades. These include leather-appointed seats and HD surround vision with HD rear vision camera.
Likewise, the Bolt EUV comes in 2 trim levels: the base model and the Launch edition. The latter features a range of impressive features such as GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving mode.
4. They Have Fast Charging Capabilities
Both the Bolt EV and the Bolt EUV come with DC fast charging capabilities. This means they are able to provide up to 95 miles of driving range in just 30 minutes.
This is especially useful for when errands spring up out of the blue and you need quick access to your vehicle.
Understanding Chevrolet EV Models
The EV market in the United States is growing rapidly. As more states announce plans to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles in the coming years, the demand for EVs is going to continue to grow.
Today, the Chevrolet EV range is leading the way. Both the Bolt EV and the EUV are among the best EVs you can choose from when looking for an electric vehicle.
