5 Things to Know About the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas

Volkswagen has done it again. They’ve created their own unique car while catering to the masses.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas comes with features and varients that give it the Volkswagen charm but compete with standard automobiles on the market.

Keep reading to learn five features you should know about the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas.

1. Different Models

The Atlas has been a three-row, family-friendly crossover vehicle, competing well with all of the other crossovers on the market.

The 2020 VW Atlas has a new variant: the Atlas Cross Sport. This vehicle comes with one less seat, a smaller package, and a smaller price tag. It has 2.8 inches less legroom, a new steering wheel, and the option of a snazzy red interior, plus redesigned VW and R logos.

VW designed the Cross to compete with other five-passenger SUVs like Ford Edge and Honda Passport.

The Atlas has five different models within it, each with their own features.

S Cross

The S Cross is a smaller vehicle with a smaller price. The two-row cross starts at $31,560 and has a 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine.

The S Cross offers a basic package. It has cloth seats, a 6.5-inch touch screen, voice control, Bluetooth, USB port, and Wi-fi capability. It includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability along with an AM/FM radio.

It has safety features like blind-spot m monitoring and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Unlike the 20-inch wheels of the more pricey Atlases, the S has your basic 18-inch wheels.

SE

The next step up is the SE which comes in a range from $34,965 to $38,365 depending on what features you include.

The SE bumps up the screen size with an 8-inch screen. It also adds in heated front seats and leatherette upholstery.

The SE includes proximity-key entry and power driver’s seats along with the option of a 276-hp V-6 engine.

The entertainment system includes an HD/satellite radio, CD player, and auxiliary audio input.

SEL

The SEL bumps up in price and quality, starting at $40,545.

With the SEL you have the choice of a four-cylinder or V-6 engine and an optional sporty package.

Volkswagen installed a panoramic sunroof in the SEL and LED taillights. The driver’s seat has memory settings, and the front passenger seat has an 8-way adjustable feature.

Drivers have the luxury of a heated steering wheel with the SEL and hands-free tailgate opening.

The SEL can haul trailers and whatnot as well with its included trailer hitch.

SEL Premium

The SEL has the highest price tag but the most swanky package as well, ranging from $47,315 to just over $50,000.

It includes 20-inch wheels and 4Motion all-wheel-drive along with a V-6 engine. Both the front seats and rear seats have heating options, and the front seats have an additional cooling feature. The front seats are also ventilated, and the entire cabin features leather seating.

The cabin lights up with soft, ambient LED lights, and the entertainment system is premium with a 12-speaker, 480-watt Fender-branded system.

2. Engine Choice

Volkswagen serves its customers best by giving them choices. You have the option of a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that saves you gas and gets you where you need to go or a 3.6L V6 engine with a bit more mustard.

3. Range in Price

The new Atlas with its various features has a range of prices. It ranges from $30,000 to $51,000 depending on what you want. The range in price depends on the engine and the roominess of the vehicle.

4. Warranty

If you’re a Volkswagen fan, you will recognize a change in warranty. The Atlas now comes with a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. This differs from the past when they offered a 6 year/72,000 mile warranty.

5. Safety Features

Volkswagen made the Atlas a safe vehicle. The Atlas earned a five-star rating from The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The following features make the Atlas one of the safest crossovers on the road:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Automatic high beams

  • Surround-view camera system
